How to Fold the Osprey

Follow each step in order, keep your folds sharp, and compare your airplane with the images as you go.

8 steps from start to takeoff
1

Step 1

Step 1 of the Osprey paper airplane

Fold the paper in half from left to right then unfold back to the original position.

2

Step 2

Step 2 of the Osprey paper airplane

Fold the two corners down and in so that they meet flush in the center fold of the airplane.

3

Step 3

Step 3 of the Osprey paper airplane

Fold the nose down as shown by the arrow so that we create a fold along the bottom edge of the triangle we created from Step 2.

4

Step 4

Step 4 of the Osprey paper airplane

Fold the top corners down and in so that they meet flush in the center.

5

Step 5

Step 5 of the Osprey paper airplane

This is what it should look like after the folds from Step 4. Fold the aircraft in half down the center of the airplane as shown.

6

Step 6

Step 6 of the Osprey paper airplane

Make a fold about a half inch over from the bottom of the fuselage. This will create the right wing. Do this for both sides making the fold about a half inch in to leave a fuselage on the bottom of the airplane.

7

Step 7

Step 7 of the Osprey paper airplane

After you create the first wing make, repeat the process again for the opposite wing as shown in the image.

8

Step 8

Step 8 of the Osprey paper airplane

After making the two folds for the wings, fold them halfway back so that they are perpendicular to the fuselage. Once this is done the airplane is complete.

Ready for Takeoff?

You built the Osprey.

Give it a test flight. Small adjustments to the wings and winglets can make a big difference in how it flies.
